Lacus Mortis

Lacus Mortis - Latin for Sea of Death - is a solidified lava lake on the northeastern front of the moon between the Mare Frigoris the north and the Mare Serenitatis to the south, the larger Maria similar to that of the emergence ago. The name comes from the Italian astronomer Giovanni Riccioli (1598-1671) and was officially defined by the International Astronomical Union in 1935.
