Lago da Pedra is a Brazilian municipality in the state of Maranhão. The population in 2008 was 46 083 inhabitants, with 59.52 % in urban and 40.48 % in rural areas.

History

Lago da Pedra is mentioned with the arrival of the first settlers in the area for the first time in historical documents of the city in 1929. 1931 was followed by other farmers who were in search of grazing land and erected the first building. Its main activity was the animal breeding and agriculture favored by the climate and water resources in the geographical landscape near a large lake.

The settlement was first administrative district of Vitória do Mearim assigned as a records with the number 248 on December 31, 1948 is.
