Lagoa Santa

Lagoa Santa is a municipality with 46,506 inhabitants ( 2006) in Brazil, Minas Gerais State in the same lagoon. It is popular destination from Belo Horizonte 37 km away.

In the nearby limestone caves of the Danish naturalist Peter Wilhelm Lund discovered around 1840, rich fossils, but above all human skeletal remains. The estimated dating to 11,000 BC can not be verified due to loss of the Fund good.
