Lagos State University

The Lagos State University ( LASU ) is a University of Lagos State of Nigeria. It is located in the district of Ojo, was established in 1983. With approximately 61,000 students and employees the LASU is now the largest university in Nigeria, bigger than the old state university of the city, the University of Lagos.

Its construction owes the LASU a law for the promotion of education in Lagos State, which was adopted on April 22, 1983 by the Governor of Lagos. It was primarily established for the purpose of covering the demand for specialists in the field of technology and science in Lagos State after the idea was discarded expand into a university, the Lagos College of Technology and Sciences. She has since established a reputation but also in law, medicine and social sciences.
