Lake Ashi

The Lake Ashi (Japanese芦ノ湖, Ashi -no- ko, dt " sea of reeds ") is a crater lake in the town of Hakone in the Fuji -Hakone -Izu National Park on the main Japanese island of Honshu. It was formed about 3000 years ago after the last outbreak and partial collapse of the Hakone -yama in the caldera. Due to its good transport infrastructure and to the beautiful view of Mount Fuji -san of Lake Ashi is a popular destination for tourists.

The first character is usual in China, (芦) written with a slightly tapered second horizontal line from the top, instead of - as usual in Japanese - parallel to the other.
