Lake Easton State Park

The Lake Easton State Park is a state park in Kittitas County in the U.S. state of Washington. The 209 -acre park is located on Lake Easton in the foothills of the Cascade Range in a shaped glacial valley, northwest of the settlement Easton and 24 km east of Snoqualmie Pass. The Lake Easton is a 111 -acre reservoir of the Yakima River. The dam, the Easton Diversion Dam, is a 20 m high and 579 m long concrete gravity dam. The Lake Easton is about 1.6 km long and has a capacity of 6.1 million m³. In the lake also opens the Kachess River, the outflow of Lake Kachess. The Easton Diversion Dam was completed in 1928 by the Bureau of Reclamation as part of the Yakima Project for irrigation of the Yakima Valley. The land for the park was acquired in five parts 1961-1991 by the State for a total of U.S. $ 1.435808.

The park is still partly wooded with a forest of Douglas firs, giant trees of life and Western American hemlock. The park has a year-round campground with over 130 parking spaces and has a 7.3 km long shore line at Lake Easton. By the lake there is a boat ramp, a six-meter long jetty and a swimming area. The park is crossed nine kilometers ways that serve as hiking trails and cross-country skiing slopes in winter than in summer. On the south side of the lake, the former railway line of the Milwaukee Road, which is now part of the Iron Horse State Park and a popular hiking trail runs.
