Lake Iznik

The Iznik Lake ( Turkish Iznik Gölü ) located in the southeast of the Marmara region, and is located within the province of Bursa. He is the fifth largest lake in Turkey and the largest in the Marmara region. In ancient times it was called Askania. It owes its present name to the place Iznik, which lies on the eastern shore of the lake.

Its area is 298 km ², it is situated at a height of 85 m. The maximum width is 11 km from north to south and the length in the direction of east to west 32 km. The lowest point lies in the south of the lake and is 82 m deep.
