Lake Kirikumäe

The Kirikumäe Lake (Estonian Kirikumäe järv ) is located in southeastern Estonia.

Description

The lake is located on the ridge Haanja in the rural community Vastseliina ( German Neuhausen ) in a circle Võru ( circle Werro ). It is named after the nearby village of Kirikumäe.

The lake is 61.4 acres in size. The lowest point is 3.5 meters. The average depth of the lake is 2.8 meters. The northern part of the lake is officially registered as a bathing area.

The lake is reported together with the surrounding forest and the bog of Järvesuu ( Järvesuu raba ) as a conservation area.

In Kirikumäe lake 159 km long river originates Pedetsi ( Pededze Latvian, German Peddetz ).
