Lake Kubenskoye

The Kubenasee (Russian Кубенское озеро ( Kubenskoye Lake) ) is a 109 m high altitude lake in northwestern Russia. It is located in the Vologda Oblast in Federal District North-West Russia. Southeast of the lake lies the city of Vologda and east Kadnikow.

The lake has an area of ​​407 square kilometers, is at its greatest extent 60 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide. The average depth is three meters. The water level fluctuates up to 1.5 m. Is fed to the lake from the Kubena, the Uftjuga and Porosowiza. The Sukhona drains the Kubenasee and flows northeast to the Northern Dvina.

In the lake following fish are caught: White Salmon ( Stenodus leucichthys nelma ), pike, perch and bream.

Near the lake there is the saddle height reference point of the highest mountain in the Alps, Mont Blanc.
