The Latschasee ( also briefly Latscha; Russian озеро Лача, Ozero Latscha, also Лаче, dwarf pine ) is a 334 km ² large lake in the northern part of the East European Plain in the European part of Russia.

General

It is located in the extreme southwest of Arkhangelsk Oblast and has a length of 33 km ( north -south ) and a width of up to 14 km the largest lake.

The shores of the lake are shallow and marshy, so that it is directly on the lake only several closely spaced villages on its southeast end. The outlet of the lake is in the north is the Onega, the small town situated on the Kargopol about five kilometers below the lake. The largest tributary of the Latschasees is in its southern end opens out, coming out of the Woschesee about 50 km away swid. Other major tributaries are (clockwise) on the southeast side Kinema and Kowscha, on the west side Uchta, Tichmanga and Lekschma.

The lake freezes from November to May to.

On the west side leads a few kilometers away the partly unpaved and poorly maintained regional road R1 from Arkhangelsk via Kargopol in the northwestern part of the adjacent Vologda Oblast in the direction Vytegra around the lake.

Use

The Latschasee is part of a 100 km long waterway that leads from the swid Kargopol up to the village of Gorka.

On the Latschasee fishing activity. From there come up to 30% of animals trapped in the Arkhangelsk Oblast freshwater fish (mainly bream ).
