The 416 km long Onega (Russian Онега ) is a river in the northwest of the European part of Russia. It forms the outflow of Latschasees and ends at the port town of Onega in the Onegabucht of the White Sea.

Description

The Onega leaves the Latschasee at its northeastern shore at Kargopol in the southwest of Arkhangelsk Oblast. From there it flows in a wide valley in the north and northeast, mainly through the sparsely populated taiga.

In Mirny it passes the Plesetsk Cosmodrome, and then turns off in predominantly north-western directions. About 75 km before its confluence with the Onega shares at Anziferowski boron in two river arms, the Large and Small Onega (Russian Большая or Малая Онега ). In Ust- Koscha the two arms unite again and form a 20 km by measuring river island. A little later reached the Onega Onega below the town named after her Onegabucht of the White Sea.

Hydrology and use
