Lake Ritsa

The Riza lake ( Abkhaz Риҵа, georgian რიწა, Russian Рица ) is a lake in the Caucasus in the Republic of Abkhazia. The water surface of the lake occupies an area of ​​1.5 square kilometers, the maximum depth is about 116 meters and the length of the shore line is 4.29 kilometers. The main tributary is the Laschipsa, the main drains to the Black Sea are the Lupschara and BSYB.

The lake is located in a largely unspoiled by man forest landscape in 950 meters of altitude, in 2200-3500 m high mountains of the Caucasus. On the north shore of Lake Riza Joseph Stalin had a summer residence ( dacha ), which is now owned by the Abkhaz state.

1930 Riza Nature Reserve was established to protect the unique mountain landscape and preserve them for posterity. The reserve covers an area of 16,289 hectares. In Lake salmonid fish are caught in the genus Coregonus.
