Lake Techirghiol

The Techirghiol Lake is located in Romania on the Black Sea directly at Techirghiol, between the seaside resorts of Eforie Nord and Sud Eforie.

Description

The Techirghiol Lake is the largest salt lake in the country and has an area of about 11 km ². The micro-fauna and flora of the high salt and mineral-rich seawater is adapted to the environment. It consists of bacteria, green algae and crustaceans.

The digested sludge of the lake is used for treatments in the adjacent bathing and spas Eforie Nord and Sud Eforie. The treatments are to be effective in rheumatic and endocrine diseases.
