Lake Waikare

The Lake Waikare is the largest of several shallow lakes in the flood plain on the upper reaches of the Waikato River in the Waikato district of the North Island of New Zealand. It is located east of Te Kauwhata, 40 km north of Hamilton. The place Rangiriri in a short distance to the lake on the Waikato River.

It has an area of 34 km ² and a water depth of less than 2 m. From the west side of a large peninsula extending into the lake.

The formed by the river, shallow lake has poor water quality due to fertilizer entry of the surrounding agriculture.

Near the west bank of the State Highway 1 runs

The lake is named after the Titan Mondsee Waikare Lacus.
