Lalitpur (Hindi: ललितपुर, Lalitapur ) is a city in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh. It has about 130,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ) and is the capital of the district of Lalitpur.

Environment

The town has a railway station and is well suited as a starting point for excursions by bus or taxi to sights early Hindu temples in the area:

  • Deogarh: Dashavatara Temple and Kuraiya - Bir Temple ( 25 km south )
  • Indor ( Gargaja Mahadeva Temple ), Mahua ( Chamunda Temple ), Terahi ( Shiva Temple ) (about 50 km north-west )
  • Markhera: Surya temple (about 30 km north-east )
