Lamar is a Home Rule Municipality in the State of Colorado and is the county seat of Prowers County. In 2010 the town had 7804 inhabitants. Lamar has a station on the Amtrak Southwest Chief route. The construction of the second part of an international, large-scale physical experiment, the Pierre Auger Observatory in the northern hemisphere for the investigation of high-energy cosmic rays is planned near Lamar.
Geography
Lamar is located on the Arkansas River in the southeast of the state, east of Pueblo. Lamar geographical coordinates are 38 ° 5 ' N, 102 ° 37' W38.083333333333 - 102.62083333333.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 11.0 km ², which fully accounted for by land area.
Demography
