Lambchop rasbora

Shivers Keilfleckbärbling ( Rasbora espei )

Shivers Keilfleckbärbling ( Rasbora espei ), also called Red Keilfleckbärbling, is a small carp fish from the south-eastern Thailand and Cambodia.

System

Rasbora espei was first described by Meinken in a Aquaristikzeitschrift as a subspecies of Keilfleckbärblings ( Rasbora heteromorpha ) and named after H. Espe, a German importer of ornamental fish, probably first introduced the type. However, the first description contains no comprehensible diagnosis, so that the identity of the Rain by Both and Kottelat (1987 ) collected the species rank Rasbora espei not safe. Therefore, the status of the species is in doubt again and again.

Features

Shivers Keilfleckbärbling only reaches a body length of 2.5 ( ♂ ) to 4 ( ♀ ) centimeters. His body is a little stretched than that of the Keilfleckbärblings. The color is deep orange-red. The typical Keilfleckbärblinge dark wedge is narrower at the front than at Keilfleckbärbling and appears in front of all the females, almost as a longitudinal and a transverse fascia that are forward assembled at a 90 ° angle. The distance to the abdominal edge is about the same as its front width.

Shivers Keilfleckbärbling lives in heavily vegetated ponds, pools and swamps.
