Lambda Sagittarii

λ Sagittarii ( Lambda Sagittarii, short λ Sgr ) is a star in Sagittarius. Lambda Sagittarii has an apparent magnitude of 2.8 mag and belongs to the spectral class K0; its distance is about 80 light-years. As ekliptiknaher star it can be covered by the moon and planets ( rare). The last occultation by a planet took place on November 19, 1984 by Venus, most recently, on December 5, 1865 by Mercury.

The star bears the historical proper names Kaus Borealis (Arabic قوس, DMG Qout, bow ' and Latin borealis, "north ").
