Elevation to city

On 18 June 2007, ratified the voting electorate of Lamitan the Republic Act 9393, with which the survey was decided Lamitans to the city. Thus, the status of the municipality of an urban municipality changes to the city. Lamitan shall from now the official name of the City of Lamitan. According to the mayor of Lamitan Roderick Furigay 26,636 voters voted for ratification of Republic Act 9393, and 177 against.
