Lampione

Lampione ( Italian for " Light " ) is the smallest of the Pelagie islands between Sicily and Tunisia. The island is 200 meters long and 180 meters wide, the highest point is 40 m slm

Geographically part Lampione African, politically to the municipality of Lampedusa e Linosa the province of Agrigento in the Italian region of Sicily.

Lampione is uninhabited. The only building on the island is the six meter high lighthouse. According to legend, the island is a boulder from the hand of the Cyclopes.

Noteworthy is the fauna of the island, which is part of the Nature Reserve Riserva Marina Isole Pelagie. Lampione serves many European migratory birds as a resting place. For marine fauna include groupers, sharks, lobsters, crustaceans and corals.
