The Land Rover Freelander is a car model of the SUV manufacturer Land Rover.

In the fall of 1997, the Land Rover Freelander as the smallest vehicle in front. It was in contrast to the models of Land Rover Discovery and Land Rover Defender not a real SUV, but an SUV. Its market launch in early 1998.

Since October 2006, the Freelander in the second generation, each with a diesel engine and a gasoline engine is available. In May 2007, the sale also launched in Germany. The vehicle is available exclusively as a five-door hatchback.
The diesel engine with a displacement of 2179 cc produces 110 kW ( 150 hp) to 140 kW (190 hp) and generates torque of 420 Nm, it is available with either manual or automatic transmission. The petrol engine with a displacement of 3192 cc makes 171 kW (233 hp) and comes standard with a 6- speed automatic transmission from Aisin - Warner. Since May 2009 counts on all diesel versions with manual transmission, a start -stop system to the base perimeter.

Facelift
In August 2010, the diesel engines with 150 (2.2 TD4 ) and 190 PS (2.2 SD4 ) were converted to the Euro 5 standard and economical use. In addition, a facelift was performed at the same time, what could be seen on new bumpers and a revised grille.
In the fall of 2012, the Freelander had another facelift. Now, the 171 kW (233 hp) 3.2-liter R6 was replaced by a four-cylinder turbo engine with 177 kW (241 hp). The interior has been significantly upgraded and the headlights and tail lights got a new layout.
