Landal is a company which operates a chain of holiday parks in Europe.

Business

Among the 74 parks include (as of 2014) 51 in the Netherlands, 10 in Germany, two in Belgium, one in the Czech Republic, 6 in Austria, three in Switzerland and one in Hungary. The nature of the areas varies, also depending on the landscape in which they are embedded. For example, there are the Austrian and Swiss parks in the center or near the most famous winter resorts. Some homes have a private marina or are located directly on the North Sea coast. Het Vennenbos and De Lommerbergen in the Netherlands have a bath offer with subtropical climate.

In other facilities Spa services or saunas are offered. It offered a total of some 12,000 holiday homes and apartments. Seven of the parks also offer campsites and mobile homes. Landal recorded annually about two million guests with eleven million overnight stays. A total of about 2550 employees work in the rental. The gross annual turnover is around 311 million euros.

History

The story of Landal goes back to the year 1954, when the Dutch company Nillmij acquired the holiday park Rabbit Hill. Originally meant to be its own employees as a holiday destination is available, the cottages were soon successfully rented out to third parties. Nillmij, later renamed Aegon Recreatie Holding BV, bought and built then other parks in the Netherlands. In 1965, the first park in Germany added.

In 1996 the company over to an investor group led by the Dutch Indofin Group and the British Charterhouse Development Capital PLC, which continued the business under the name Landal. 2001 enlarged Landal its portfolio with the acquisition of the company based in Groningen Beheer BV and properties Projects 34 Gran Dorado holiday parks. The 31 Dutch and Belgian three areas consisted of a total of 4,500 holiday homes. Beheer and properties Projects B. V. was responsible for the management and marketing of the accommodation which are located predominantly in private ownership.

In 2004, Cendant Corporation, the shares of Charterhouse and Indofin. Since then Landal has expanded to several other holiday parks in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Austria and Switzerland every year. When the Cendant Corporation split into two sections in July 2006, Landal fell to the holding company of Wyndham Worldwide, which specializes in the areas of hotels and holiday homes. The corporate offices of Landal are in Leidschendam (Netherlands) and Trier ( Germany ).
