Landau–Arnstorf railway

The railway Landau Arnstorf was a branch line of Landau an der Isar to Arnstorf in Lower Bavaria.

Preparation

End of the 19th century, the area around the markets Arnstorf and oak village was surrounded by railroad tracks, but it still did not carry into the field. On April 1, 1894, was in Arnstorf a public meeting with representatives from 24 communities involved, which came to the conclusion to apply for a railroad construction after Arnstorf, the starting point was left open.

The General Directorate of Traffic royal institutions urged to make a decision between Landau or Eggenfelden as the starting point of the route to Arnstorf. On January 18, 1896, the mayor of publicans Arnstorf and Steinbauer of Landau submitted a proposal for a railway from Landau to Arnstorf. After further discussions, for example about the possibility of extending the line to Münchsdorf was ( Isar ) Arnstorf approved by the Law of 30 June 1900, the local railway Landau.

Construction

The construction costs were estimated at 2.114 million marks, those interested were required to raise 157,500 marks. Arnstorf at that time was 1,400 inhabitants, Simbach over 700 and oak village about 1,100. A total of 18,400 inhabitants lived in the transport area of the track.

On July 4, 1900, Landauer and Arnstorfer met for a joint celebration and set up a greeting and a telegram of thanks to the State Government. As the main sponsor of the local railway proved to the district medical officer and Member of Parliament Dr. Joseph Hauber.

During the construction of 300,000 cubic meters of earth had to be moved. As usual had to provide the land for the railway construction available for free to interested parties. Since Arnstorf had to pay its share of 50,000 marks by a loan, the market council decided on May 10, 1901 to repay a Lokalmalzaufschlag of 1.40 marks per hectolitre verso Hüttenes malt, which meant an increase in the beer price of 20 pence to 22 pence per liter. Despite some unrest this measure was enforced.

Operation

The line was opened on December 29, 1903, recorded on New Year's railway operations. She left the Landau station on its eastern side and turned in a sharp bend of the valley of the Isar River, which it crossed. It reached 420 meters in altitude, the watershed between the Isar and Vils and crossed the Vils at Aufhausen on a flood-free dam. Closure

From the summer timetable 1961 with reduced number of trains rail buses were used in each direction. Uerdinger rail buses had already become the successor of the trains with Class 64.
