Long mountain massif in Grootvadersbosch Nature Reserve

The Langeberg Mountains (English, Afrikaans: Langenberg ) are a mountain range in the Western Cape Province in South Africa and belong to the Cape Fold Belt. The mountain range extends in an east-west direction over a length of 170 kilometers. The westernmost point of the ridge is located 35 kilometers west of Swellendam, in the east it extends to 30 kilometers northeast of Riversdale. In the north they are bounded by the semi-arid Little Karoo in the south lie the vast plains of the Overberg region.

Along the Langeberg Mountains are the Marloth Nature Reserve, which Boosmansbos Wilderness Area and the Garcia State Forest. The highest mountain in the chain is the 1,710 meters high Misty Point is located north of Swellendam in the Marloth Nature Reserve.

In the mountain range there from west to east, the following passes:

  • Cogmanskloof Pass, connects Montagu and Robertson
  • Tradouws Pass, Barrydale connects with Swellendam and Heidelberg
  • Garcia 's Pass, connects Riversdale and Ladismith
  • Cloetes Pass, connects Mossel Bay and Ladismith
