Long Grove is a district of the county town of Hofheim am Taunus in the Main- Taunus-Kreis in Hesse. Long Grove is the most elevated district and nationally known as the site of the European Baha'i House of Worship.

Geographical location

Long Grove is located about 340 m high in the center of a far- advanced to the south ridge of the Taunus in the western Main- Taunus-Kreis. The district of the town is almost completely surrounded by those of the other Hofheimer neighborhoods. To the north it borders Wildsachsen and Lorsbach, on the east by the core city and Marxheim, to the south and southwest by Diedenbergen and Wallau. Only in the southwest is the long Hainer district on a short piece of the Hofheimer city limits to Wiesbaden district Breckenheim.

Long Grove is surrounded on three sides by forest, at the headwaters of Kassernbachs which flows south towards Because Bach and there also assumes the name Because Bach. North of the local situation in Domherrnwald is 403.7 meters the highest point of Long Grove. Southwest of Long grove on the Kartaus ( 351.4 meters) is located in the forest a radio control center with a highly visible radio mast.

History

The oldest surviving written mention as Langenhayn dates back to 1309 in a long-term lease of the Dean Conrad and Lady pin to Mainz. Long Grove developed on an important Roman period and early medieval road link from north to south, the so-called High Street.

For centuries, Long Grove was part of the Protestant Ländchen and belonged to the time of the Duchy of Nassau to the Official Hochheim.

Forest, livestock and agriculture were the main sources of income of the inhabitants. An additional income they provided by charcoal burning and peeling of the oaks. The oak bark found buyers as Gerberlohe in tanneries and leather industries, especially in the nearby Lorsbach.

In the course of municipal reform in Hesse, Lange grove closed at 31 December 1971 the city voluntarily Hofheim am Taunus and thus continues to Marxheim the second oldest district of the present county seat of Main-Taunus -Kreis. As for other parts of the city district with a local town council and mayor was set for Long Grove.

On May 20, 1970, the municipality of Long Grove was awarded a coat of arms with the following blazon: On a silver background three red chevrons in a blue escutcheon a golden heart.

Attractions

Worth seeing is mainly the Protestant church, which was built in 1748 on the foundations of its predecessor. She gets along with the surrounding villages as overall plant conservation. The church organ was built in 1904 by the firm of organ building Frederick Weigle and restored after 35 years of silence in 2013 of the workshop Christian Scheffler in Sievers village in Brandenburg.

Of particular importance for the place is the Built in 1736, the cabin, which served the forest administration of Hesse -intestinal Municipal Office Wallau as a seat. Later the house was home to the town hall and the village school.

1964, the above Long Grove built near the forest house of worship was dedicated. This dome is popularly known as Bahai Temple. It is good to see through the incision of the Kassernbachs from the south of the Upper Rhine Valley from. Also from Frankfurt is the view of the dome free.

Behind the Bahai area right on the edge is the Hofheimer public observatory.

Traffic

Long Grove is traversed in an east-west direction from the L 3018, which runs from Wildsachsen to Hofheim and a branch to Diedenbergen. In a north-south direction is on the L 3368 a road link to Lorsbach and after Wallau with a branch to Breckenheim.

Long Grove is served by two bus routes, these are:
