Langfossen

Langfossen the Åkrafjord (2006)

The Langfossen (also Langfoss ) is a waterfall on the territory of the commune Etne in the County of Hordaland in Norway. With a height of 612 meters, it is one of the highest waterfalls in the world.

Location

The Langfossen located directly on the E134, with the masses of water passing under the road drain into the Åkrafjord. Depending on the amount of water and the wind direction places a veil of spray across the street. Right next to the waterfall, there is a parking lot with a small kiosk. From this car park gives access to either side of the fjord or by a pedestrian tunnel to the waterfall on the other side of the street.

Hike to the top

Starting from the parking lot there is a trail to the plateau from which plunges from the waterfall in the depth ( through the pedestrian tunnel and then keep left). This trail leads through some very rocky paths to 622 meters. Good footwear is essential, since the path overcomes some boulder fields. The trail is marked with a red "T". From the top you have a beautiful view of the Åkrafjord and Folgefonna. For the way up and back again, you should allow at least five hours.
