The Lappish reindeer dog or Finnish Lapland shepherd dog, Finnish Lapinporokoira, is one of the FCI (FCI Group 5, Section 3, Standard no. 284) recognized breed of dog from Finland, which is counted to the Lapphunden.

Origin and History

Dogs of this type are used by the rag and seeds for centuries to herd reindeer. Until the 1950s, no distinction was made between Lappländischem reindeer dog and Finnish Lapphund. In 1966 it was decided to divide the breeding of these dogs on the basis of different phenotype in the two races " Lappish reindeer dog " and " Finnish Lapphund ".

Use

The Lapland Reindeer Dog is used in northern Scandinavia as a herding dog for herding the reindeer herds. In addition, it is also used as a companion dog.
