Lapsus

A lapse ( the latin slip, plural: faux pas with a long u ) is an (often minor ) involuntary error. Is differentiated into:

  • A lapse calami ( calamus to Latin =, write pipe ') is a typo. There are also variants lapse manus ( Latin manus to = 'hand' ) and Lapsus clavis ( to Latin clavis = 'key' ) - is meant with the latter a typo on a keyboard.
  • A lapse linguae ( to Latin lingua = tongue ',' language ') is a Sichversprechen, a slip of the tongue or a slip of the tongue. Slip of the tongue is often equated with the Freudian slip of the tongue ( according to Sigmund Freud), a linguistic blunder, in which, according to Freud, the real meaning or intention of the speaker involuntarily comes to light.
  • A lapsus memoriae ( to Latin memoria = memory ' ) is a memory or memory error.
