Population figures and surfaces with respect to the administrative boundaries
Listed are all cities with more than 500,000 inhabitants. The population figures refer to the cities in their administrative boundaries without their politically independent suburbs. Since the handling of administrative boundaries can vary greatly between states, this size is not comparable ( see, for example Brussels). Capitals are bold, italic The Hague as the seat of government.
