Larisa Ilchenko

Larissa Dmitrievna Iltschenko (Russian Лариса Дмитриевна Ильченко ) ( born November 18, 1988 in Volgograd) is a Russian long-distance swimmer. With eight titles in open water World Championships, she is the most successful female participant of all time, and according to Thomas Lurz second most successful participants in the Open Water World Championships ever. Her first title at the open water world championships they won in the remarkable age of 16 on November 27, 2004 in Dubai over 5 kilometers. Just as Thomas Lurz she specializes in the distances over 5 and 10 kilometers. 2008 Iltschenko won the gold medal over 10 km at the Olympic Games in Beijing.
