Lars Saabye Christensen

Lars Saabye Christensen ( born September 21, 1953 in Oslo) is a Norwegian writer Danish- Norwegian origin.

Life

Saabye Christensen, who has by his father, a Danish citizen, grew up in Oslo, but lived mostly in Sortland in Nordland. Both places had an influence on his work as a writer and dive into his works. He studied Norwegian, literature, art and history of ideas. He debuted in 1976 with the poetry collection histories om Gly, for which he was awarded Tarjei Vesaas ' debutant price. Saabye Christensen lives with his wife Karna in Oslo.

Work

Saabye Christensen is best known for his novels, but he also wrote poems, plays and screenplays. 1984, the breakthrough beyond the borders of Norway he succeeded with out Yesterday that was awarded the prize of the Norwegian publisher Cappelen. 2001 got his work half-brother a literary prize of the Nordic Council.

Saabye Christensen is a member of the Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature and a member of the St. Olav's Order.
