Laruns

Laruns is a municipality in southwestern French region of Aquitaine in the department of Pyrénées- Atlantiques. Laruns is the capital of the eponymous canton Laruns.

Geography

The mountain and border town with 1242 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) located in the Ossau Valley (French: Vallée d' Ossau ), in the Pyrenees National Park right on the Spanish border. The pass Col d' Aubisque Laruns connects with the French community in the valley of Argeles- Gazost Gave de Pau. In the district Gaba springs from the river Gave d' Ossau.

The community Laruns has approximately 249 square kilometers in area, the third largest municipality in France, to Arles and Saintes -Maries- de -la -Mer.

The place is located 40 kilometers from Pau, 120 kilometers from Bayonne and 240 kilometers from Bordeaux and Toulouse.
