László Marton (sculptor)

László Marton ( born November 5, 1925 in Tapolca, † October 5, 2008 in Budapest) was a Hungarian sculptor.

Life

László Marton's talent was recognized early, so he was inducted in 1940 as a student at the Moholy -Nagy School. From 1946 to 1952, he was under the direction of sculptor Pál Pátzay student at the Academy of Fine Arts.

Marton's works have been widely and internationally exhibited. His sculptures were installed in both the Hungarian Socialist Republic and after the political change in the public space. In 2000, a permanent exhibition was established at his birthplace Tapolca.

Marton painted next to the sketches for his sculptures and watercolors. In 1995 he was awarded the Officer's Cross of Merit of the Hungarian Republic and 2003 the Kossuth Prize.
