Latobici

The Latobiker or Latobriger (Latin Latobrigi, Latobici ) were supposed to be an ancient Celtic tribe who settled alongside the Helvetii in today's South Baden.

Together with the Helvetii and other tribes they tried from the advancing Germans to flee to the West, but were prevented by military Roman legions under Gaius Julius Caesar it ( Battle of Bibracte in 58 BC ). This made the Celts to Foederati and settled them again east of the Rhine, so the Germans were able to open any free settlement areas.

In the time of Christ's birth, but the pressure of the Germans but must have become greater because the Celts emigrated again, this time to the southeast in the new province of Pannonia. The Latobiker settled in present-day Carinthia, on the Raab, Slovenia and between the Sava and Drava. They intermarried with the native population, the Illyrians; their nearest neighbors in the new home were the Varcianer.
