Latsis Foundation
The International Latsis Foundation ( Fondation Latsis Internationale ) is a foundation established in 1975, out of the assets of Giannis Latsis, headquartered in Bellevue, near Geneva. It is a non -profit organization (institution non lucrative d' interet public) and the John S. Latsis Foundation daughter Public Benefit Foundation. The Foundation is a member of Spiros Latsis, among others, the son of Yannis Latsis.
The Foundation provides the prize money for several scientific prizes available.
- Prix Latsis Universitaire, University of Geneva
- Prix Latsis Universitaire of the University of St. Gallen
- Prix Latsis Universitaire the EPFL ( Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne)
- Prix Latsis Universitaire the EPFZ ( École Polytechnique Federale de Zurich, ETH Zurich )
The University of prizes will be awarded since 1983 and each endowed with 25,000 Swiss francs ( all allocations as of 2011).
- Prix Latsis National, which is awarded annually since 1984 by the Swiss National Science Foundation (SNSF ) and is worth 100,000 Swiss francs.
- Prix Latsis Européen, which is awarded annually since 1999 by the European Science Foundation ( European Science Foundation, ESF) and is also worth 100,000 Swiss francs.
- Lakatos Award, which is awarded every year since 1986 by the London School of Economics and is worth 10,000 British pounds.
In addition, certain annual or biennial Scientific conferences are promoted at the mentioned universities, each with 50,000 Swiss francs.
