Lakatos Award

The Lakatos Award is an award every year since 1986 Science Award for outstanding contributions to science. The award honors contributions that have been published over the past six years in the English language and book form.

The prize is awarded in memory of the philosopher of science Imre Lakatos from the London School of Economics ( LSE) and is worth 10,000 pounds. The prize money is provided by the Latsis Foundation. With the price a public lecture at the LSE is connected.

The winner is determined by the Director of the LSE, and the following science theorists: John Worrall, Hans Albert, Nancy Cartwright, Adolf Grünbaum, Philip Kitcher, Alan Musgrave and Michael Redhead.
