Lattice C

Lattice C ( according to its manufacturer, Lattice, Incorporated ) in 1982 was the first C translator (compiler ) for MS -DOS on the IBM personal computer. The compiler has been ported to many other platforms such as mainframe (MVS ), minicomputers (VMS ), workstations (UNIX), OS / 2, the Commodore Amiga, the Atari ST and the Sinclair QL.

The compiler was later sold by Microsoft as Microsoft C in other packaging. 1987 Lattice was purchased by the SAS Institute. Then gradually the support for other platforms disappeared until the compiler development was completely focused on IBM mainframes. Although the product is still available in versions that run on other platforms, but it involves cross-compilers that produce only mainframe code.

Part of the early commercial software for the IBM PC from 1982, including Perfect Writer, PerfectCalc, Perfect Speller and PerfectFiler (whose suite was bundled with Seequa Chameleon and Columbia Data Products), was CP / M ( where it is written in BDS C was ) ported by Lattice C to MS -DOS.
