Latur ( Marathi: लातूर, Lātūr ) is a city in the Indian state of Maharashtra with around 380,000 inhabitants ( 2011 census ). It is the administrative seat of the district of Latur. The fast-growing city is situated at about 636 meters altitude and is the economic center of the region.

On September 29, 1993, there were in the region of an earthquake of magnitude 6.2, in which 9751 people died.
