The wait is a small river in Lower Franconia with a good 30 km in length. She is the namesake for the Lauertal and rises in Oberlauringen.

Name

The name is derived from Germanic Lauer hlūra, which means the clear. The waters were the places Oberlauringen, Stadtlauringen, Poppenlauer, Burglauer and Niederlauer their names.
