Lauf Castle

The Wenceslas Castle (also: castle run) is a former imperial residence on an island in the river Pegnitz in the Franconian town of Lauf an der Pegnitz, Nuremberg County.

History

Even before 1275 the castle came to the Wittelsbach family, before being destroyed in 1301.

Emperor Charles IV in 1353 acquired the Upper Palatinate and territories on the Pegnitz and thus run. The extensive areas on the Pegnitz summed together to Karl Neuböhmen ( countries of the Bohemian Crown ).

As of 1356 the Emperor had run at the site of the ruined castle predecessor a new building. Particularly impressive is the resulting 1360 " Coat of Arms Hall " in the East Wing, which probably served as the emperor 's bedchamber and is decorated with over 120 sculptured coat of arms.

1373 the not quite finished castle came back to the Wittelsbach family.

1504 the castle came to Nuremberg, who carried out from 1525 to 1527, 1579, 1649, 1679 and 1736 tags.
