The Laura River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is located in the Kimberley region.
Geography
The river rises in the Bailey Range, about 20 km south-west of Halls Creek and flows to the southwest. It crosses the Great Northern Highway at Dillinger Bore and flows 30 km to the southwest in the Mary River (Western Australia).
Origin of the name
The river was surveyed in 1884 by G. R. Turner. He named it after the niece of the supreme Land surveyor John Forrest. Her name was Laura Louise Forrest.
