The Mary River is a river in the north of the Australian state of Western Australia. It is located in the Kimberley region.

Geography

The river rises north of the settlement Ruby Plains on the southern slopes of Mount Angelo, 25 km south of Halls Creek. From there, it flows westward through the settlement Oollumarra Soak and opens below the Mount Jean in the Margaret River, shortly after he has the Great Northern Highway crosses under.

Origin of the name

The Mary River received its name in 1884. The surveyor Harry Johnston named it after his mother.
