Laureate

A laureate is a prize winner (Latin: laurel wreath carrier ), one with a price (for example, the Nobel Prize ), religious or other award honored scientists, politicians, poets, other artists or the winner of a competition.

Poet Laureate was a crowned with the laurel wreath poet - an award that ( prize money, alimony or pension) was connected from the side of the donors or rulers since ancient times also with rights and resources. In the English -speaking world, there is still the name of poet laureate.
