Laurențiu Toma

Laurentiu Mihai Toma ( born June 28, 1981 in Ploieşti, Romania) is a Romanian handball player. Toma is mostly used with the Romanian club HCM Constanta on right wing and wears the number 14

Career

The 1.94 m wide and 90 kg Left-handed playing since the beginning of his professional career in 2001 at HCM Constanta. With this team he won eight times the Romanian Cup and the Cup four times.

Internationally, he has since been represented by these successes in each season. So he reached the semifinals in the EHF Challenge Cup 2003/ 04 and in the European Cup Winner 2005 /06 as well as the quarter-finals in the European Cup Winners' Cup 2006/ 07 and 2008 /09. In the EHF Champions League 2009/10 jump over the group stage managed last sixteen. This season, Toma was with 90 hits third best scorer of the competition.

For the Romanian men's national handball team Laurentiu Toma scored since his debut in 1999 339 goals in 133 games. (As of 15 January 2012) He participated in the 2009 World Championships and 2011. After failing to qualify for the 2012 European Championship in June 2011, he retired from the national team.

Award

In March 2010, Toma was appointed on the basis of his contribution to the club and the city and his exemplary conduct an honorary citizen of Constanta.
