The Conservatoire de Lausanne is a Conservatory in Lausanne.

History

It was founded in 1861 with the intention to allow both amateurs in studying music as well - train future professional musicians - at the Haute Ecole de Musique de Lausanne ( HEMU ). Since 1990, the Conservatory in the premises of the former Galeries de Commerce is located in Saint -François district. The HEMU is part of the University of Applied Sciences Western Switzerland.

The Conservatory currently has three divisions, one for classical music, jazz and a college for a music school. Around 300 students study there classical music, jazz around 60 and 1200 students attend the school of music.

In another branch, future music teachers who are enrolled at the College of Education, the Haute école Pédagogique vaudoise, taught both musically and in music theory. A collaboration with the University of Lausanne ( UNIL ) is related to the newly established Chair of Music at the University in preparation.

Affiliated with the Conservatory is a library of scores, literature and general reference works, which is the professors, students, and students are available.

Since 1909, the Conservatory also an acting school ( Section professionnelle d'art dramatique du Conservatoire de Lausanne, SPAD) was attached to that worked in the HETSR 2003.
