The Lauter is about five kilometers long, left tributary of the Blue in Baden- Württemberg, Germany. It is also called for dividing the not far distant Grosse Lauter "Little Loud ".

Lauter pot

The Lauter rises on the southern edge of the Swabian Alb in Kaiserslautern, in the municipality of blue stone in a karst spring, the Lauter pot. This has an average bed of 600 liters per second and is one of the strongest sources of the Swabian Alb. In addition to the source is the old pumping station that several communities supplied with drinking water in 1873. The effluent water flows in two branches from the source container, which unite again after a few meters.

Course

The Lauter flows in a southeasterly direction through the five -kilometer Small Lauter. It was founded in 1995 as a nature reserve and has a size of 280 hectares is the second largest in the Alb - Donau district.

In Mr. Lingen, also a part of the community Blaustein, it merges into the blue.

Conservation

The Lauter is sought despite their small size again by canoeists. Birds eye protection reasons driving on the Lauter in the nature reserve is generally not permitted. From the conservation area boundary at the quarry south of Weidach to Mr. Lingen the motor vehicles is prohibited annually between March 1 and June 30 for single riders, waivers may be granted by the conservation authority Ulm. Organised trips, commercial rental and events throughout the year need an official permit.
