The Lauter ( also Lauterbach ) is a right tributary of the Itz in Coburg in Bavaria.

Course

The Lauter arises in the municipality in the district of Lauter Tremersdorf by the confluence of Rottenbach and pond digging. It flows to the southeast through Neukirchen and deep Lauter after Oberlauter. There it is amplified by several karst springs, the resurgences of the Lauter. In the course of the volume flows through the villages of sub- Lauter, Bertels village and Neuses. In the center of Coburg it opens at the Holy Cross Church in the Itz.

From 2012, a reclining at Oberlauter free-flow tunnel should lead over the high water volumes of the Lauter exceeding 4 m³ / s, in the retention basin Goldbergsee.

Pots source of the Lauter

The source of the Lauter pots are between Deep Loud and Oberlauter in the private grounds of a fish farm ⊙ 50.3193710.972107340. They are used as a supply line of the pond. The karst springs from the Middle Muschelkalk have a depth up to two meters and pour average of 420 liters per second. After heavy rainfall the spring water has a brownish color. The source pots are reported by the Bavarian State Office for Environment as Geotop 473Q001. See also the list of geological sites in Coburg.
