History

The first mention of Lavey took place in 1016 under the name A Laver; 1180 appeared the name Lavetum. The place name is derived from the Latin word lavare ( wash ). Even the name Morcles is handed down for 1043.

The areas of Lavey and Morcles belonged since the 11th century the Abbey of Saint -Maurice.
