Law firm

As a law firm is called the offices and the company or the operation of a lawyer or several lawyers.

Background

In common parlance, the term law firm is needed for either the office of an individual lawyer, and to the offices of medium or larger firms and their branches.

At the law firm of attorney creates all human and organizational conditions for the exercise of his profession. What these are, in detail, is handled differently from firm to firm. Common to all forms of organization that the lawyer is accessible to his clients about his firm and him whom he represents clients or documents may be sent to the address of the law firm. In the office he is (usually ) conduct meetings with clients and edit his files.

Forms of organization

• Partnership limited professional liability ( PartGmbB ) as a variant of the partnership
• Corporation ( (eg lawyer -GmbH ), relatively unusual in Germany, increasingly to be found in Austria )
• International law firm, for example, in the form of a Limited Liability Partnership (LLP ) under UK / U.S. law.

Firm size

The " size " of a law firm is colloquially usually determined by the number of their professionals. A determination by revenue in Germany is in fact hardly possible, because only corporations to publish their revenues are required by law. However, this firm size affects not necessarily from their sales or the operation.

The term " law firm " is a common but unused name for firms with ten or more earners. Neither the Federal Statistical Office nor of the Federal Bar Association, there are surveys on the number and average size of firms. It is likely, however, that the majority of lawyers in Germany in firms with fewer than ten earners to practice their profession.
