Law of specific nerve energies

In 1826, the physiologist Johannes Peter Müller formulated the law of specific energy, in which he described, it is not the external stimulus, the quality of perception determined, but only the nature of the stimulated sensory organ. This is the high specific sensory modality of the irritated sensors.

As usual in the 19th century, is also based this work to a considerable degree in philosophy. This approach is also the source term mind power, with the Müller rewrote the specific anatomical and physiological properties of the sense described.

Experimental pointed by Müller, how various stimuli, for example, on the optic nerve. In this work later built on Hermann von Helmholtz, who was himself a student of Müller.
